JAS is short for Japanese Agricultural Standards, which is government maintained standards for the agriculture industry of Japan. It is a certification system to attach the JAS marks to the products inspected in accordance with the JAS established Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. As all other food related certification system, it allows only the certified manufacturers and producers that can attach JAS marks to their products. In Japan, this is enforced by the JAS LAW.
